Our story began long before we ever picked up a camera. We’ve known each other for as long as we can remember— from childhood to high school sweethearts, to now, business partners and best friends. Together, we’ve built not just a successful photography business, but a life we truly love. Growing up together has been one of life’s greatest gifts, allowing us to witness each other’s growth firsthand. Our journey has been filled with both joy and challenge—moments of gain and loss, hope and disappointment. Through it all, we’ve learned to hold on to hope, to fight for each other, and to embrace growth and healing. Today, we’re more in love than ever than on that summer day in May when we said I do.

In 2009, our family founded Saving Grace in Uganda, a nonprofit close to our hearts, and we've been dedicated to its mission ever since. Every spare moment is spent supporting the organization—whether through photography, social media, administrative work, or leading teams on the ground in Uganda. We travel there annually to visit the incredible staff and children, offering help wherever it’s needed. Thousands of young lives have been transformed through Saving Grace, and it’s our greatest privilege to contribute to this life-changing work. 10% of the profits from each wedding we photograph goes directly to this organization.

There aren't adequate words to express how incredible these two are, as photographers and as humans!
Joel & Sammy photographed my best friend's wedding about 5 years ago and left such an impact on me (as a bridesmaid at the time), that two days after I got engaged, they were the very first vendor I reached out to!! Joel & Sammy bring such a light and a comfort to your wedding day, they capture the raw and emotional moments so delicately and the high energy, sweaty moments on the dance floor with such an electric energy! We also received our entire wedding album 6 days after our wedding... INSANE!! The dedication & love these two put into their work shine through in their photos. My entire wedding album is full of priceless photos that I will cherish for the rest of my days!!

We can't say enough amazing things about Joel and Sammy! They left us speechless when looking at our wedding photos!
All the emotions came back going through our photos in a way neither of us expected. Going through each other's getting ready photos felt like we were there living the moment and looking back. We are blown away at the moments captured and the quality of images. It took us two days just to digest the photos and take it all in. A major takeaway was also the photos of all our friends and family and those sweet moments. It's crazy how fast things move that day/night and there were a few people we weren't able to grab a photo with. But Joel & Sammy gave us the best gift without even realizing it by managing to get beautiful, candid, and heartwarming photos of all our guests and we can't express enough how much that means to us. We felt like we were able to give back to our guests their own moment of our special day.

There are truly no word to fully describe the talent and genuineness of 28 North.
Sammy & Joel are unparalleled photographers who made our wedding day even more special with the incredible images we will have for a lifetime. Since the first time contacting them, they were so authentically interested in our love story and photography needs that I knew we had to book them! On our wedding day Joel & Sammy made us so comfortable and at ease in front of the camera. They blended right into the family and the crowd, making an effort to learn everyone’s name and making sure to capture moments with everyone. And the 1000+ photos that they captured and edited from the day.... I’m speechless!! They are beyond anything I could dream of—the most beautiful encapsulation of our love and wedding day! Not to mention that we received our ENTIRE gallery less than two weeks after the wedding. I would recommend 28 North Photography a million times over!
